Food Lovers Market was originally opened as ‘Fruit & Veg City’ in 1993, by Brian and Mike Coppin. This could explain why many confuse the name and call it the Fruit Lovers Market! From a single store in Cape Town, they have now grown to more than 100 stores throughout South Africa, in cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Polokwane, Bloemfontein and Randburg. Moving away from the sterile look you see in so many supermarkets, the ‘food market experience’ has been one of the big reasons why they are so successful. They give customers the opportunity to feel as if they are shopping in a food market, while still offering the quality you’d expect from a high-end store. They have since expanded to more divisions, offering their customers even better value. The Food Lover’s Eatery offers ready-to-eat meals, while they can grab a coffee on the go at the Seattle Coffee Company.

Food Lovers Market falls under the Groceries category, along with other stores such as Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, Spar, Ultra Liquors, Makro, Boxer, Cambridge Foods, Woolworths and KWIKSPAR. Their trading hours are from 9h00 to 19h00 from Monday to Friday, 8h00 to 18h00 on Saturdays, and 8h00 to 16h00 on Sundays and public holidays.
